"Works of art are always born from those who confront danger, from those who have gone to the end of an experience, to the point no human being can go beyond."

“I walked through landscapes with energy, as one follows the paths of creativity. I immersed myself in nature in order to translate images through color and form, on paper or on canvas. To invite the gaze by moving toward it, and to lose oneself in eternity.”
“Abstract expressionism fits Christiane Maurino’s painting perfectly, unfolding in a singular language far from purely gestural receptivity. Developed through flat, closely placed areas of color, monochrome patches animate the linen surface. Punctuated with a few strokes, erasures, and collages, they attest to an economy of movement and reduce themselves to trace, narrating expanse.
From this emerges a tension revealed as an invitation to inconstancy. Maurino’s art is evanescent and tactile, like marginalia, like glosses...
Inventive, Maurino surprises us with the diversity of her graphic studies: at times her rough and forceful works assert themselves as elemental powers; at other times, as in her secret cities, the artist shapes the imprint of an enchanting interiority, just sufficiently accomplished. The appearance of utopia is balanced by all these clear evidences. A notice of exploration...
Maurino’s art can be an art of apogee. Her delightful and desperate manner signifies a skill and an art of living that, to be fulfilled, never cease in their momentum.
The body of work, perfect in plausibility and daring in clarity, is superlative. An unexpected force today, where what is striking has become rare.
Poulet de Gruissan. Ed. Nuances - formes - langages.”
Christiane Maurino’s work belongs to a world made of dreams and realities, often on the border between abstraction and figuration. The traversed landscapes tell the story of life with its share of mystery and lead us to rethink humanity’s place in nature.
